Thanks for your interest. My website is finally operational after two years in the making. We will probably continue to tweak things as we go along, but I think Denny at, AnglerDesign.com did a really good job. He is looking to become more involved in designing web sites for fishermen in case you happen to know someone seeking assistance.
The biggest news for the 2008 FLW Tour season is Fantasy Fishing. What an unbelievable deal to give away $1,000,000 to one lucky fan. Not to mention 7, $100,000 winners and a bunch of other huge prizes. I’m pretty sure that this will change the sport forever and generate a bunch of new fishing fans. I’m really fired up about it. You’ll notice I am putting a ton of effort into the whole Fantasy Fishing Challenge on my website. We will continue to add things as we go, so I appreciate your patience. There’s not much time before it all gets started, so don’t miss the boat. On January 15th FLW will be kicking the whole thing off. Hopefully my Fantasy Bass Club will help one of you win the $1,000,000 Grand Prize in August. Best of luck!
As for me, I’m just getting ready for our first event of the year. After much hesitation from FLW Outdoors about whether, or not Okeechobee would remain on the schedule for 2008, I guess that’s where I’ll be kicking the year off. It’s an FLW Series event and will start on January 23rd. I simply can’t wait to get out of the ice and snow and see if I can remember how to cast. Due to the drought conditions, tournament and local officials have opened up the locks and some other areas to expand the fishable water. Sounds good to me. I’ll get to explore some new water and hopefully kick off the year in a good way. I’ve always used to frown upon starting the season with Florida’s Stubborn cold front Bass, but looking back at my history, it’s actually not been too bad.
I’ll begin 2008 with my same sponsor base as last year with three exciting additions. First, I will move over from Luhr-Jensen to Rapala, who bought that company two years ago. I will obviously still use all of my old favorite LJ Baits, like the Radars, Speed Trap, and Johnny Rattler, I just will be more promotionally directed toward Rapala Baits. Needless to say, I’m very excited about all of that. I literally caught the first bass of my life on an old original floating Rapala, gold/orange. I was like 5, or something. And the rest of their hard bait lineup is stout to say the least.
Other new associate sponsors include ABU Garcia reels and Spider Wire Braided Lines. I’ve used Shimano Chronarchs for about 15 years now, but remember that first bass on the old Rapala?…that’s right, the reel was an old red Ambassaduer 5000. I learned to cast with that reel. I guess you could say that I’m trying to revisit my youth. …Used Shimanos anyone?
When I use braided line, I always buy Spider Wire Stealth, so I’m happy to team up with them as well for 08. Gamma line and Spider Wire braid…what a deadly combo!
Also, please don’t forget to watch out for TABU Tackle jigs. Many of you have been asking about this and wanting to be able to purchase these jigs over the years. The first of three series to hit the market will be the Open Water Series (OW), and will be introduced during the Bassmasters Classic in February. Tackle Warehouse will be helping us out there and will be the first to carry TABU. You can also visit Tabutackle.com for more info.
That will do it for me. I look forward to keeping you informed and will do my best to stay on top off things throughout the 2008 season. Please enjoy the site and remember to take advantage of davelefebre.com and all the stats, tournament info, and last minute video updates. Happy New Year to everyone!
God Bless,
Dave
